Taylor Fritz (USA)

DELRAY BEACH: 2026 is his ninth appearance. Two-time defending champion returning for a chance at a three-peat. Second player in DBO history to win in back-to-back years (2024-25). Ranked world No. 7 at 2023 event, became tournament’s first-ever Top 10 winner and only third top seed to win; was second Top 10 winner in 2024 ranked No. 9 and fourth top-seeded champion.  

CAREER: Reached first Grand Slam final at 2024 US Open, becoming first American man to reach the final there since 2006.  He also won Eastbourne in 2024 and is a 2024 Olympic bronze medalist with Tommy Paul in men’s doubles. No. 1 American who broke into the world Top 10 in 2022, reached a high of No. 5 after 2023 Delray title and finished year ranked in Top 10 in 2022 and 2023. Quarterfinalist at 2024 Australian Open, 2022 and 2024 Wimbledon, and 2023 US Open. Led U.S. to United Cup and Team World to Laver Cup titles in 2023. Def. No. 4 Nadal to capture the 2022 ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells title. Also won Eastbourne and Tokyo in 2022. Qualified for 2022 year-end ATP Finals, def. No. 2 Nadal for second time and reached SF. Named 2016 ATP Newcomer of the Year. Ended junior career in 2015 as world No. 1 after winning the junior US Open title.  

PERSONAL: Featured in the Netflix series “Break Point”. Has a son, Jordan; his father, Guy, is a tennis coach and his mother, Kathy May, was a Top 10 player on the women's tour. Idols growing up were Juan Martin del Potro and Pete Sampras, who presented him with a cake on his 18th birthday. Enjoys playing FIFA and hanging out with friends. Fan of Manchester United (Premier League) and Los Angeles Chargers (NFL).

Tommy Paul (USA)

DELRAY BEACH: 2026 is Paul’s sixth year playing in the tournament… 2024 finalist…Quarterfinalist in 2023…Semifinalist in 2022 as a wild card, falling to eventual champion and then-world No. 13 Norrie. 

CAREER: Cracked the world’s Top 10 in 2025 after reaching the Australian Open quarterfinals… Went on to reach the French Open quarterfinals, becoming the first American man since Andre Agassi in 2003 to reach the quarters in the year’s first two Majors…In 2024, in addition to reaching the DBO final, won Dallas, Queen’s Club (London) and Stockholm, reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals and won an Olympic bronze medal in men’s doubles with Taylor Fritz… First Grand Slam semifinal came at 2023 Australian Open…Def. world No. 1 Alcaraz to reach 2023 Masters 1000 SF Toronto…Won first ATP Tour title at 2021 Stockholm…In juniors, won the 2015 Roland Garros boys’ title and was back-to-back champion in Delray Beach at the USTA National Clay Court 16s and 18s in 2013-14.  

PERSONAL: Lives in Palm Beach County…announced engagement to girlfriend Paige Lorenze in July 2025…as a young teenager, lived in the dorms with Fritz and former Delray champ Opelka at the USTA training center in Boca Raton and they remain good friends on the Tour…An all-around athlete who also skated and played basketball…Grew up in North Carolina and now helps at his mother’s farm in New Jersey when not traveling on the Tour.

Casper Ruud (Norway)

DELRAY BEACH: Making his debut in 2026.

CAREER: Three-time Grand Slam finalist (2022-23 French Open, 2022 US Open)…Reached career-high world No. 2 in 2022…In 2025 won biggest title of career at Masters 1000 in Madrid, defeating two-time DBO champion Taylor Fritz enroute to the clay court title… First Norwegian to win an ATP Tour title (14), an ATP Masters 1000 title (2025 Madrid), play at Nitto ATP Finals (2021 SF, 2022 final, 2024 SF), and reach a Grand Slam final (2022-23 French Open, 2023 US Open)… Defeated World No. 1 Djokovic for biggest win of career enroute to 2024 ATP Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo final…Partnered with WTA World No. 2 Swiatek to advance to 2025 US Open mixed doubles final.

PERSONAL: Expecting his first child in early February 2025…His father and coach, Christian Ruud, played this tournament in 1998 when it was held in Coral SpringsChristian achieved career-high No. 39 on ATP Tour….Casper was honored by his fellow players with 2022 Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award… He and his father are known to drive between tournaments to play golf courses along the way, and Casper has an Instagram account dedicated just to the golfing side of his life… Admired by country music star Shania Twain, who supported him during his championship wins at 2021 and 2022 Gstaad.

 

Learner Tien (USA)

DELRAY BEACH: Playing the tournament for the second time in 2026…As a wild card in 2025, reached the second round before falling to fourth seed Arnaldi in a third-set tiebreak…Also a doubles wild card in 2025 with partner Ethan Quinn.

CAREER: Started 2025 with a surprise run to the Australian Open Round of 16 as a qualifier, upsetting world No. 5 Medvedev in the second round…Claimed first career title in Metz, France, in November 2025 by defeating 2022 Delray champion Norrie in a third-set tiebreak, a month after reaching his first-ever ATP final in Beijing… Ended 2025 by winning the ATP NextGen Finals, after finishing runner-up in 2024…Recorded five victories over Top 10 opponents in 2025 and improved his position in the ATP Rankings by nearly 100 spots to No. 28…At 19, was youngest American to crack Top 50 since Roddick in 2002…Two-time winner of the USTA Boys 18s National Hard Court Championship.

PERSONAL: Coached by former French Open champion Michael Chang, who played the Delray Beach Open in 2000 and the Legends event several times…Tien played one semester at University of Southern California…Inspired by Carlos Alcaraz to compete at a higher level and watch more tennis.

Brandon Nakashima (USA)

DELRAY BEACH: 2026 marks his fourth Delray Beach Open…Reached the singles QF in 2020 and 2025, and won the 2025 doubles title with Kecmanovic, his first on the ATP Tour…

CAREER: Won the 2022 ATP NextGen Finals and 2022 San Diego… Upset world No. 14 and 2025 DBO finalist Davidovic Fokina enroute to 2026 Brisbane final…In 2024 reached US Open fourth round with wins over No. 15 Rune and No. 18 Musetti…Has two Top 10 wins – Rune (No. 5) and Rublev (No. 8)…Finalist at 2021 Atlanta and Los Cabos.

PERSONAL: Enrolled early at University of Virginia as 17-year-old and was named 2019 ACC Freshman of the Year before turning pro… If he could steal one shot from another player, it would be Pete Sampras' serve or Nick Kyrgios' feel and drop shots…Enjoys golf and American football. Favorite NFL team is Los Angeles Chargers.

Alex Michelsen (USA)

DELRAY BEACH: Playing in his third Delray Beach Open in 2026…Semifinalist in 2025 after defeating 2022 champion Norrie in the QF…In 2024 fell to second seed Paul in a third-set tiebreak in the second round.

CAREER: Reached first Grand Slam 4r at 2025 Australian Open, upsetting No. 12 Tsitsipas in first round for second of three career wins over the Greek…Reached three semifinals in 2025…Avenged DBO SF loss to Kecmanovic enroute to the Challenger title in Estoril, Portugal…Reached first ATP Masters 1000 QF at 2025 Toronto with a win over No. 10 Musetti…Reached two finals in 2024 at Newport and Winston-Salem… In 2023 broke through on the tour at Newport to reach his first-ever ATP final in just his second event, becoming the youngest American finalist since Fritz at Memphis in 2016.
